The Dubai-based brand inspires conscious consumerism whilst embodying the best of humanity.
When it comes to sustainable clothing, no fashion brand is leading the charge quite like The Giving Movement. The homegrown streetwear label is changing the scene when it comes to sustainable closets, donating AED 15 to charity with every item purchased. The amount is enough to ensure one week’s basic needs (food, shelter, water) for a child in need.
The Giving Movement has now announced that its first physical store will open at Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates later this year. Although we don’t know the exact location yet, we expect a trendy store reflective of the brand’s instantly recognisable garments. The Giving Movement offers sustainable athleisure wear made from 100% eco-friendly fabrics that are innovated and designed in-house to make them more accessible whilst reducing the brand’s carbon footprint.
“Conscious consumerism is a global initiative, and a collaboration exclusive to YOOX is a beautiful opportunity to come together and make an even larger impact. The Giving Movement’s story is proof of power in numbers, donating $4 with each item purchased and being on the cusp of crossing $2 million in donations.” – Layal Akouri, CEO, The Giving Movement.
The company puts its intentions on its garments, with many of the pieces labelled with the brand’s name in bold print. In addition to the popular collection of t-shirts and organic cotton hoodies and sweats in a range of vibrant colours, The Giving Movement has recently launched a selection of trendy modest wear, which includes hijabs and abayas.
In other news, the homegrown streetwear label recently joined forces with YOOX for an exclusive capsule collection celebrating freedom and self-love, in addition to launching the Middle East’s first bio-based sugarcane slides.
The Dubai-based label founded in 2020 is disrupting the fashion industry by making recycling the new fast-fashion. We can’t wait to see The Giving Movement’s flagship store when it opens at Mall of the Emirates later this year.
