An art-inspired afternoon tea has launched in Abu Dhabi

Fouquet's

DSCVR Partnership: ‘Le Goûter’ afternoon tea at Fouquet’s is inspired by the art of Louvre Abu Dhabi.

Afternoon tea is always a good idea – who can argue with Anna Maria Russell, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, who is credited for introducing the concept in the 19th century after complaining of a “sinking feeling” experienced during the late afternoon? For a French spin on this very English tradition, one that goes well beyond cucumber sandwiches and scones with clotted cream, think Fouquet’s Abu Dhabi.

The Parisian brasserie located at Louvre Abu Dhabi has debuted a new afternoon tea concept that fuses the customs of French dining with the magic of art and culture. ‘Le Goûter’, meaning ‘to taste’ in French, features a splendid array of sweet desserts crafted by the talented Executive Pastry Chef Hugo. Here, the innovative afternoon tea experience is served inside a beautiful decorative box. Inspired by the restaurant’s setting within the Louvre, each cake, pastry and chocolate reflects the theme of the museum’s monumental exhibition, ‘Impressionism: Pathways to Modernity’.

Fouquet's

Served under Jean Nouvel’s world-famous dome, the spread spans elegant creations such as raspberry and lychee macarons, hazelnut madeleines, tarte au citron, and more authentic French indulgences. Crafted using premium quality ingredients, these nibbles encourage guests to relax, admire the impressive surroundings, and savour the likes of freshly baked scones, chocolate caramel tarts, pistachio choux, blueberry cheesecake, and more. The perfect experience for art enthusiasts and food connoisseurs, one of Le Goûter’s highlights is ‘La Tasse de Chocolat’, a decadent cappuccino-infused chocolate that mirrors the iconic 19th century painting created by Pierre-August Renoir. As one of France’s most famous artists in history, the moving piece forms part of the Louvre Abu Dhabi’s globally renowned collection.

Further enhancing the picturesque journey, each delight is joined by a wide selection of fresh loose-leaf teas and smooth barista coffees, while those who really want to elevate the occasion are invited to celebrate with a glass of Brut Champagne. You can sip and savour these treats within the glamorous ambience of the dining room or out by the terrace’s panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf and city skyline. Available to enjoy daily from 3pm to 6pm, the new Le Goûter menu is priced AED 390 for two people (inclusive of tea or coffee) or AED 450 for two (inclusive of a glass of champagne per person).
