Infinity des Lumières encompasses three exhibits to guide visitors through diverse imaginative worlds.
The GCC’s largest immersive digital art centre opened earlier this week, representing a new era of modern immersive art and enhancing Dubai’s position as the city of the future.
The centre, which opened to the public on 1 July, offers a multi-sensory journey presented through the art of Van Gogh’s ‘Starry Nights’, DannyRose Studio’s ‘Dreamed Japan’ and Thomas Vanz’s fully digital creation, ‘Verse.’
Located opposite Galeries Lafayette inside The Dubai Mall, Infinity des Lumières presents an innovative, technology-driven artistic platform that uses 130 projectors, 58 speakers and 3,000 HD digital moving images, spread over 2,700 square metres,
In the first exhibit dedicated to artist Vincent Van Gogh, his famous artworks pulse with life. Through pioneering digital technology, the exhibition showcases the evolution of Van Gogh’s art, from The Potato Eaters (1885), Sunflowers (1888) and Starry Night (1889), to Bedroom at Arles (1889), placing you at the heart of each masterpiece.
‘Dreamed Japan’ invites guests to step inside a dreamlike space, where the world of 19th century Japan floats around you, blending Hokusai’s portraits with enchanting landscapes. Using innovative digital technology to create an interplay between light, colour, sound and rhythm, the exhibition embodies the meaning of ukiyo-e art as “floating world pictures.”
Finally, ‘Verse’ was created as an explosion of colours, shapes and sounds by Thomas Vanz. A whirling extravaganza of images demonstrating the magical beauty of the cosmos is amplified with the harmonies of an orchestral piece composed by Jonathan Fitas.
Infinity des Lumières will spend the coming year creating a niche community where tech-driven artists have a place to gather and innovate. The art centre also seeks to create a platform where digital artists can present their creations to the world.
Tickets are priced at AED 125 for adults and AED 75 for children aged between three and thirteen years.
