Frou Frou Dubai will debut at The Lana – Dorchester Collection later this year.
Bulldozer Group is hard at work. Last week, we revealed details of Dragonfly, a new fusion concept that will transport diners to the colourful farmers’ markets of Japan at The Lana – Dorchester Collection this autumn. But that’s not the hospitality group’s only venture in progress at this understatedly luxurious property — Frou Frou will also debut later this year, opening its doors at The Lana Promenade in September.
The restaurant’s concept, with its vanguardist take on French classics, combines the glamour of Parisian nightlife with contemporary art and design. The local outpost will therefore echo the famously playful spirit of its French predecessor, introducing Dubai to the joie de vivre that drove the cultural and artistic climate of Paris to flourish during the early 20th century. Diners can expect a lush oasis with rich blends of colours, textures, and décor accents that transport them to a paradise garden, contrasting with Dubai’s desert landscape.
Designed by YODEZEEN studio, the restaurant has three main areas: a large hall with an open kitchen, a smaller hall, and an open-air terrace. Based on the choice of seating formats, the smaller foyer is perfect for cocktails with appetisers, while the main space speaks of fine dining. The bar, meanwhile, has turned 360 degrees and serves both areas. Foliage will play an important role at the restaurant, providing the necessary shade to the space during the day.
Under the leadership of Alexander Orlov, chairman and founder of Bulldozer Group, the new French restaurant is set to redefine dining in Dubai with the help of chef Leonid Ivanov’s expertise. A connoisseur in Mediterranean and French cuisine, he brings a wealth of knowledge from his time in France. Here, he will reimagine French cuisine in a modern way, presenting a rich mélange of flavours that’s both sophisticated and unexpected, and designed for the city’s uniquely diverse palate. Incidentally, the upcoming launch marks the third venue under the brand — a branch is expected to debut in Marbella, Spain, in the coming months.
