It’s only a matter of days until the smooth, retro sounds of soul and funk fill the air at Aretha — the live music venue will open its doors at St. Regis Gardens on 16 May, joining the likes of Chez Wam, LEÑA, Signor Sassi and Trèsind Studio at the open-terrace concept atop Nakheel Mall.
As for what guests at Aretha can expect? A sleek, sophisticated club and restaurant where the tunes of the swinging sixties and soulful seventies will reign supreme. The venue is the brainchild of Rikas Hospitality Group, which owns and operates a number of award-winning restaurants and cafés across Dubai — Lana Lusa, Mimi Kakushi, Ninive, Tagomago and Twiggy included.
The team says that melophiles seeking a classy venue to revel in both local and international talent will find their haven here, transported to a bygone era with its retro-chic décor that evokes nostalgia for a time defined by soulful tunes and cultural revolutions. From its rose-gold bar to its central stage, every corner of Aretha is designed to exude charm and charisma. Central to the experience will be its live music performances, showcasing talented artists who capture the spirit of the 60s and 70s. Guests can immerse themselves in soul, rhythm, and blues as they enjoy music performances that pay tribute to musical legends.
We’re told that Aretha’s F&B offerings were carefully curated to enhance its ambience, and we’d expect nothing less. For starters, classics such as Dover Sole Meuniere, Wagyu Beef Rossini, and Grilled Rock Lobster are on the menu. Additionally, the likes of caviar, oysters, and a selection of exciting starters such as Enoki Tempura, a Purple Aubergine Salad with crispy sweet potato will be served. The poached Egg Caviar with crispy potato and Parmesan emulsion is not only Aretha’s signature dish, but also a must-try.
And when it comes to desserts, diners can indulge in the homemade Motown Ice Cream and Sorbet, the Anna Pavlova with mango and passionfruit sorbet, or the alluring Try a Little Tenderness that accents a chocolate brownie with Baileys Irish Cream and caramelised peanuts.
Aretha’s cocktail selection will further enhance its throwback feel, with each signature drink named after a musical giant. There’s the Aretha (a Jack Daniel’s single barrel bourbon infused with cigar, homemade vanilla syrup, vanilla seeds, and angostura bitters) and the Marlon (with vodka, fresh raspberry, and lychee in a rose lemonade), alongside a concise wine list and bottle service.
