The first-of-its-kind resort is set to debut on Ramhan Island in 2029
Saudi Arabia may have earned bragging rights earlier this year as the region’s only Ritz-Carlton Reserve opened its doors on Ummahat Island in the Red Sea, but that’s about to change soon — another property will join the portfolio in 2029, taking up residence in Abu Dhabi. As for what’s expected? Superlative luxury, of course.
Described as “a collection of rare estates, set apart from the world”, there are only a handful of Ritz-Carlton Reserve outposts around the world (Indonesia and Mexico included), each residing in a chic, intimate setting that weaves indigenous flavours with highly individualised service. Nekajui, Ritz-Carlton Reserve is set to debut in Costa Rica later this year, marking the eighth location worldwide.
Closer to home, the resort is expected to open on Ramhan Island, translating to a secluded escape that will boast expansive views across the azure waters of the Arabian Gulf. An exclusive waterfront destination in the capital, Ramhan Island is currently being developed to become the next must-visit destination for travellers seeking unparalleled luxury and natural beauty in the UAE. Covering a staggering four million square metres of development area, it features a natural island connected through a network of waterways.
The new Ritz-Carlton Reserve aside, this fully integrated waterfront community will also be home to residential villas, marina residences, and state-of-art amenities for residents and tourists alike. We’re told that the resort will be situated on a secluded island within Ramhan Island and feature 50 one-to-four-bedroom villas, including what is touted as the region’s first floating villas with unobstructed waterfront views. Elsewhere, lavish leisure amenities and multiple culinary venues will round off the onsite offerings.
The property is the result of a partnership between Marriott International, Inc. and Eagle Hills. “This collaboration with Marriott International on Ramhan Island marks a milestone in our commitment to shaping extraordinary experiences and redefining luxury hospitality,” says Mohammad Alabbar, Chairman of Eagle Hills. “As the first Ritz-Carlton Reserve in the UAE, it will set new standards of excellence in the world of luxury experiences.”
